Melbourne's east is full of gums, oaks and liquidambars, and every one of them drops into a gutter. Leaves block outlets, hold water against the steel so it rusts faster, and in the hills they're fuel sitting on the edge of the roof in fire season.

Gutter guard is a metal mesh that sits over the gutter and fixes along the roof. Water runs through it and leaves stay on top, where most of them dry out and blow off. It's well worth adding when you replace your gutters.

Does gutter guard mean no more cleaning?

It means a lot less. Fine debris and seeds can still build up over time, so an occasional check is still a good idea. What it stops is the big blockages that cause overflows.

Bushfire-prone areas

In bushfire-prone parts of the Yarra Ranges and the hills, metal mesh guard helps keep dry leaves out of the gutters where embers can ignite them. If your property has a BAL rating, tell us and we'll quote a guard that suits it.

Common questions

Does gutter guard work on tile roofs?

Yes. Gutter guard is made to suit both tile and metal roofs. The fixing method is different for each.

Can you fit guard to my existing gutters?

If your gutters are in good condition, yes. If they're rusted or leaking, we'd recommend replacing them first, as the guard will outlast them.
